WHAT IS IT?
If you participate in an orchestra at your school, your school orchestra director may sponsor you to audition for and participate in All-State Orchestra Clinics. You go on one date to audition and, if you are accepted, you go on another weekend to rehearse and perform a concert. Please get full information from your school teacher and from the NCMEA website: http://www.ncorchestra.org/NCMEA_Orchestra/Student_Events.html. You can find copies of the scales and arpeggios with the fingering on this website.
WHO CAN PLAY?
WESTERN REGIONAL (ALL-STATE) and NC HONORS ORCHESTRA
The state events require that students are enrolled in their school orchestra if one exists, but if there is no orchestra, they can be sponsored by their teacher if the teacher is a member of NCMEA. Members of the Philharmonic (the 2nd tier student orchestra sponsored by the Greensboro Symphony) have occasionally been sponsored by their director, Karen Collins.
Listed below for your convenience are the performance requirements for violin. Confirm this information and more with your school orchestra director.
